Bókin “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die” kom fyrst út árið 2005 en hefur verið endurútgefin nokkrum sinnum, þar sem einhverjar plötur detta út og aðrar koma inn. Ef einhver hefur áhuga á að hlusta á þetta allt saman, þá kemur vefsíðan 1001albumsgenerator.com sterk inn.
Þann 11. janúar 2026 ákvað ég að hefja þetta verkefni. Ég bjó mér til aðgang, en vefsíðan velur eina plötu af handahófi úr bókinni fyrir mig að hlusta á.
Auk þess eru notendur að gefa einkunnir, skrifa gagnrýni og ýmis konar tölfræði sem er hægt að skoða þarna. Plöturnar eru orðnar 1089 talsins eftir allar endurútgáfur á bókinni.
Í töflunni hér fyrir neðan er hlustunarsaga mín, en til þess að gera þetta aðeins nördalegra, þá hef ég búið mér til leik úr þessu:
- Ég mun skipta verkefninu upp í umferðir þar sem fyrstu 30 plötur sem ég fæ eru í fyrstu umferð, næstu 30 plötur verða svo í annarri umferð o.s.frv.
- Eftir hverja umferð mun ég svo raða þessum 30 plötum í 5 deildir, þar sem hver deild er með 7 laus sæti.
- Ég vil ekki gefa deildunum gildishlaðin nöfn, svo þær heita einfaldlega: S, A, B, C, D.
